SHARE and prayer triplets

A
Prayer Strategy for our "Dream Big" Series
                              Fall 2009

  • (Adapted from "Pursuing the full Kingdom Potential of Your Congregation"
      by George Bullard)

  • We are launching Share and Prayer Triplets as part of Elizabethtown First Church of God's Spiritual Strategic Journey and spiritual growth process. We believe these triplets can begin healing of old wounds, break dividing walls between people, and bring a God-sized vision for Elizabethtown! The Share and Prayer triplets is a process where groups of three people will meet once a week over a six week period for no less than thirty minutes each meeting. In these triplets, the participants are encouraged to share their personal spiritual pilgrimage, to dialogue about the spiritual journey of the church, and to pray aloud for one another and for their congregation.

The desired end results are several. First, people in each triplet will grow closer to one another, become more committed to the journey of Elizabethtown (FOG), and be more open to the movement of God through their congregation. The second benefit is that an overall sense of spiritual movement will emerge in the congregation. They will see that God is up to something in their fellowship and that the congregation must respond to God's leading. The third desired result is that people will develop a sense of passionate urgency and spiritual readiness for the new thing that God is doing in and through Elizabethtown First Church of God. The fourth is that people will be more committed to making the changes and dream big for God's church.

We believe that this prayer initiative will foster health and vitality among the congregation and help us see the vision God has for E-Town. We believe the blessings to the individual participants will be multiplied throughout the congregation and help to launch Elizabethtown First Church of God on a strategic spiritual journey.

The prayer triplets will be led by a visionary leader who will recruit the other two participants. As much as possible, the other two people you recruit should:

      1. Be from different worship services and different age groups. If possible, try and make the triplets as diverse as possible with persons who have different church perceptions and have been connected to the congregation for different lengths.
      2. Not be from the same household, close friends, or close relatives.
      3. Be willing to enter a no-exit relationship.  This means that each person will agree to stay actively connected to the triplet over the 6 weeks, even though there may be some challenging moments as the triplets seek to deal with significant and meaningful issues.

The share and prayer triplets will be launched:
Sunday October 4, 2009 and continue until
            Thursday December 4, 2009
    .

The meeting should be no less than thirty minutes. The triplets are asked to spend their time sharing their personal hopes, hurts and dreams, as well as sharing their affirmations, challenges, and vision for their congregation. Triplets are asked to pray aloud for one another and their congregation.

The prayer and share triplets will all come together on Sunday December 6, 2009 (time to be determined) to share how the prayer and share triplets worked. Some will be asked to give a testimony of the experience at our "Yeah God" celebration service.

So let's dream big and see what God wants to do in you and in His church!
